Software for complex data and real-world decisions.

We build web applications, data integrations, geospatial tools, scientific software, and document retrieval systems. The work has a scope, milestones, acceptance criteria, tests, documentation, and a handover.

Capabilities

What the projects demonstrate.

  1. Web applications and workflow software

Browser software that follows a procedure a person can finish. The DeZirteer web application imports a dataset, applies filters, calculates, plots, and exports. Hunterizer puts a place-and-date question on a phone.

  2. Data integration

Hunterizer joins geographic boundaries, dates, species, and regulatory text so a query can return one answer. DeZirteer imports reduced analytical tables from Iolite or Glitter.

  3. Geospatial applications and decision tools

Hunterizer reads a location against boundaries and the rules that apply there. Developed geospatial analysis tools to help investigative journalists identify possible military installations. This work is not public.

  4. Scientific computation and visualization

DeZirteer calculates discordance and a best age, and draws concordia diagrams and density estimates. The 2021 Chemical Geology paper documents that scientific workflow. The web application and the ChatGPT connector came later.

  5. Document retrieval and RAG

Kataba processes technical documents and retrieves passages that can support an answer. The answer stays linked to the document, the page, and the passage.

  6. MCP services and AI tool integration

DeZirteer exposes the same U-Pb tools through an MCP service, so ChatGPT can call the analysis. The conversation does not replace the calculation.

Delivery

From an agreed workflow to a handover.

  1. Define the workflow, scope, and acceptance criteria.

The users, the procedure, what is in and out of scope, and the checks that decide acceptance.

  2. Build and review working increments.

Software that runs, reviewed while change is still practical.

  3. Test against agreed requirements.

The acceptance criteria, agreed by both parties, applied to the build.

  4. Deliver documentation and handover.

The software, the documentation needed to operate and change it, and a transfer to the people receiving it.

Owner and CEO of Vlamel Technologies LLC. He builds the software and leads the engagement. Engagements are principal-led; specialists are brought in when the work requires them.

He holds a PhD in geology, which is why a workflow involving isotopic data, maps, or a technical report can be specified closely enough to build.

Prior employment: engineering program management at Apple, and software and data program management at Bloom Energy. Apple and Bloom Energy are previous employers.
